Cleaning Porter (Hospital Wards)

Clean really matters at a frail care centre in Krugersdorp; here it stops infections spreading. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Location: Krugersdorp, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged

• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Respectful and discreet around patients
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Calm under pressure in busy wards

• An infection prevention and control short course
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
