Cleaning Porter (Hospital Wards) – Permanent

Careful, trained cleaners are wanted at a private hospital in Sandton. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a private hospital on the Sandton side of Gauteng. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area

• Respectful and discreet around patients
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Matric or Grade 11

• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
• On-the-job infection control training
• Medical aid option through the employer
