Clinic Cleaner (Day Shift)

Clean really matters at a day surgery clinic in Cape Town CBD; here it stops infections spreading. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Cape Town CBD, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged

• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Matric or Grade 11
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time

• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
• An infection prevention and control short course
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience

• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
• On-the-job infection control training
• Medical aid option through the employer
• Meal on shift at the staff canteen
