Clinic Cleaner (Day Shift)

You'll keep a day surgery clinic in Johannesburg CBD safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a day surgery clinic on the Johannesburg CBD side of Gauteng.

• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers

• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Respectful and discreet around patients

• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
• An infection prevention and control short course

• Medical aid option through the employer
