Clinic Cleaner (Day Shift)

Careful, trained cleaners are wanted at a day surgery clinic in Welkom. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a day surgery clinic in Welkom. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times

• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Matric or Grade 11

• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
• An infection prevention and control short course

• On-the-job infection control training
• Medical aid option through the employer
• Meal on shift at the staff canteen
