CNC Machinist (Lathe & Milling)

The general engineering workshop in Krugersdorp needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Krugersdorp (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors
• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine

• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop

• Food safety awareness for food and drink plants
• Millwright trade test, since it covers both mechanical and electrical
• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses

• Shift and standby allowances
• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Tool allowance

• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
