Job Description

This is a floor job at a beachfront cocktail bar in Paarl where your tips follow your service. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a beachfront cocktail bar on the Paarl side of Western Cape.

What your day looks like

Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.

Must-haves

Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
Quick with basic maths and card machines
Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift

Helpful, not essential

Responsible Service of Alcohol training
A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
