Code 14 Car Carrier Driver

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a cross-border transport company in Pinetown is hiring. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)

• Clean record on a telematics driving score
• Defensive driving course
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
