Code 14 Driver (Regional Night Runs)

You'll move heavy loads between Kariega and depots across the country for a long-haul freight fleet. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The site is in Kariega; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops

• Clean criminal record
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Paid PrDP renewal

• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
