Code 14 Flatdeck Driver (Steel Loads)

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a cold-chain logistics fleet in Brakpan is hiring. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Brakpan, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads

• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Passport for cross-border routes

• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Paid PrDP renewal

• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
