Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a cross-border transport company in Germiston is hiring. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a cross-border transport company on the Germiston side of Gauteng.

What your day looks like

Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped

You'll need

Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Clean criminal record
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

Helpful, not essential

Defensive driving course
Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
