Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a coal haulage contractor in Lephalale is hiring. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a coal haulage contractor on the Lephalale side of Limpopo.

What your day looks like

  • Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
  • Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
  • Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
  • Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
  • Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

What you need

  • Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
  • At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
  • Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
  • Passport for cross-border routes
  • Clean driving record with no serious accidents

Helpful, not essential

  • Dangerous goods training certificate
  • Knowledge of SADC border routes

What's in it for you

  • Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
  • Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
  • Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
  • Paid PrDP renewal

How to apply for this job

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Lephalale really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: reference letters from previous transport companies, Code 14 licence card and PrDP (both sides copied) plus passport copy for cross-border work.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Lephalale.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
  • Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
