Coded Welder (6G, ASME IX)

You'll cut, fit and weld steel to drawing in a busy pressure vessel manufacturer in Kempton Park. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Kempton Park-based, with most of your time spent at a pressure vessel manufacturer. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Cut and bevel plate with oxy-fuel, plasma and a bevelling machine
• Keep a hot work permit open and a fire watch in place during shutdowns
• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging
• Sign off your weld map and traceability sheets for each spool
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
• Grind and repair welds flagged by the QC inspector
• Read fabrication drawings and cutting lists before you mark out plate

• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification
• Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
• You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help
• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one

• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns
• Coding renewals paid by the employer

• List each coding separately with the standard, process, position and expiry date. "Coded welder" on its own tells a recruiter nothing.
• Expired codings are the number one reason welders are turned away at the gate. Check dates before you apply.
