Cold Room Assistant (Fruit Export)

You'll sort, grade and pack fruit for export at an avocado packhouse near Umhlanga. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is an avocado packhouse on the Umhlanga side of KwaZulu-Natal.

• Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves
• Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet
• Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
• Pack cartons to the export pattern and weight
• Stick labels and batch codes on each carton

• Follows hygiene rules at all times
• Able to stand at a line for long shifts
• Quick and neat with your hands
• Arrives on time for early shifts
• Available for the full packing season including Saturdays
• Basic counting and reading for labels

• Protective clothing supplied
• Rehire for next season if you perform well
• Transport from nearby towns
• Overtime pay during peak weeks

• If you want a QC post, bring your matric certificate and say you can write neat records.
• Apply before the season starts, often a month before first harvest. Recruiting days fill up fast.
