Cold Room Assistant (Fruit Export) – Entry Level

Fruit from a berry packing facility near Upington ends up on shelves overseas, packed by your hands. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Upington (Northern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves
• Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet
• Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery
• Help clean the line and machines at the end of the day
• Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
• Build pallets to the correct height and strap them

• Basic counting and reading for labels
• Valid ID or permit
• Quick and neat with your hands
• Arrives on time for early shifts
• Follows hygiene rules at all times

• Previous packhouse work
• Knowledge of export standards like GLOBALG.A.P.
• Matric for QC posts

• Transport from nearby towns
• Overtime pay during peak weeks
• Protective clothing supplied
• Rehire for next season if you perform well
