Job Description

Hit your collection targets at this retail credit centre in Richards Bay and your commission shows it. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a retail credit centre.

The work, day to day

Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Hand accounts over for legal action once internal steps are exhausted.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.
Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.

Must-haves

At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
Clear credit and criminal record
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations
You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not

Extra points for

Legal collections or attorney-firm background
A second South African language
Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
