Job Description

This microlender call centre in Umlazi needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a microlender call centre in Umlazi. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Negotiate payment arrangements and set up DebiCheck mandates.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
Hand accounts over for legal action once internal steps are exhausted.
Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.

Must-haves

Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations
At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
Matric
Clear credit and criminal record
Target-driven and comfortable with commission
You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not

Nice if you have

Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
Knowledge of the NCA and prescription rules
Legal collections or attorney-firm background
