Job Description

This municipal accounts office in Newcastle needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a municipal accounts office in Newcastle. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.
Hand accounts over for legal action once internal steps are exhausted.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.

Must-haves

Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations
You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not
At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
Matric
Target-driven and comfortable with commission

Extra points for

Knowledge of the NCA and prescription rules
A second South African language
