Combine Harvester Operator (Seasonal)

Planting to harvest, a mixed crop farm near Newcastle runs on good tractor drivers. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed
• Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
• Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
• Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed
• Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs
• Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting

• Reliable and sober on duty
• Basic understanding of implements and settings
• Can read job cards and spray instructions
• At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
• Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
• Safe driver who respects chemical and machine safety

• Combine harvester experience
• A pesticide application or spray course

• Training on new machinery
• Farm housing with water and electricity
• Harvest bonus at season end

• List the machines you can drive and the implements you have used. Farmers want to know if you can plant, spray or harvest on day one.
• Mention GPS or auto-steer if you have used it. Modern grain farms struggle to find operators who know it.
