Job Description

This is hands-on electrical work in Pinetown: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Pinetown (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

What your day looks like

Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1

You'll need

Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
Valid Code 08 driver's licence
Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes

Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters
Working at Heights certificate still in date
Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
