Job Description

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the facilities management company in Prospecton. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a facilities management company on the Prospecton side of KwaZulu-Natal.

The work, day to day

Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester

Must-haves

Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre

Helpful, not essential

N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
Working at Heights certificate still in date
