Commercial Electrician (Shopfitting & Retail) – Experienced

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the shopfitting and retail fit-out firm in Springs. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Springs. Relocation is not covered for this one. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester

• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence

• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
• Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs

• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends

• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
• Many applicants forget to attach the trade test certificate itself. Recruiters often skip CVs that only mention it.
