Construction General Worker (Building Site) – Immediate Start

Hard outdoor work on a road rehabilitation project in Bloemfontein, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Bloemfontein (Free State). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision

• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Grade 8 or higher
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE

• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days

• Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
