Job Description

Hard outdoor work on a shopping centre renovation in Hammarsdale, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Hammarsdale-based, with most of your time spent at a shopping centre renovation.

The work, day to day

Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines

You'll need

Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Grade 8 or higher
Willing to start early, often at 06:30
A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Prepared to travel between sites in the area

What you get

Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
