Construction Health and Safety Agent

The building contractor in Stellenbosch needs a safety officer who is on the site, not stuck in the container office. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Stellenbosch (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment
• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file

• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• First Aid Level 1 at least
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification

• Travel and site allowances
• Laptop and data for reporting
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
