Construction Health and Safety Officer (SACPCMP)

Safety files, inspections and toolbox talks: this renewable energy construction site in Pietermaritzburg needs someone who can do all three well. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Pietermaritzburg (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height

• You write clear reports in English
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• First Aid Level 1 at least

• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• ISO 45001 internal auditor course
• Fall protection planner training

• Travel and site allowances
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Laptop and data for reporting

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
