Construction Health and Safety Officer (SACPCMP)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this renewable energy construction site in Tzaneen. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a renewable energy construction site on the Tzaneen side of Limpopo. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work

• You write clear reports in English
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• First Aid Level 1 at least
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer

• Fall protection planner training
• Diploma in Safety Management

• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances

• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
