Construction Worker (Bricklaying Assistant) – Experienced

The residential renovation company in Bellville needs skilled hands and helpers who know the basics of the building trade. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Location: Bellville, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings

• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible

• Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects
• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter

• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time

• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
