Continuous Miner Operator (Coal)

Big machines, long shifts, good pay: the open-cast coal mine near Centurion needs qualified operators. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Centurion (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Respect the collision avoidance system warnings and park-up rules
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass

• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred

• Machine training instructor experience
• Fatigue management or defensive driving training

• Shift allowance for night and weekend shifts
• Medical aid subsidy
• Annual performance bonus
• Company bus from nearby towns to the mine gate

• If you live near the mine, say so. Local applicants are often preferred under the Social and Labour Plan.
• Name the exact machine class and size you operated, like "100-ton rigid dump truck". Mines hire by machine.
