Continuous Miner Operator (Coal)

Operators at this underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery near eMalahleni keep the ore moving from face to crusher. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass

• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
