Contract Cleaner (Corporate Building)

You'll keep an university campus in Umlazi clean, stocked and fresh before the people arrive. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The site is in Umlazi; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Mix cleaning chemicals at the dilution shown on the label, never by guesswork
• Set up and clear boardrooms before and after meetings
• Run a scrubber-dryer machine on large tiled areas
• Clean and disinfect toilets, basins and urinals several times a shift
• Sign the ablution checklist on the back of the door after each clean
• Wipe desks, door handles, lift buttons and light switches

• Grade 10 or higher
• Able to start early, often 05:00 or 06:00
• Able to stand, bend and walk for a full shift
• Clean criminal record for most corporate sites
• You take pride in a job done properly, even when nobody checks
• Honest, because you work around laptops and personal items

• Training on a floor polisher or scrubber machine
• Supervisory experience for team leader posts

• UIF and paid leave under the cleaning sector rules
• Permanent contract once the site contract is secured
• Uniform and cleaning gloves provided
• Paid overtime for weekend deep cleans

• Arrive neat and early for the interview. It is a small test of how you will arrive for a 05:00 shift.
• Ask a former supervisor if you can put their number on your CV. Cleaning contractors almost always phone a reference.
