Contracts Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Builds)

Make sure every rand on site is counted, claimed and certified for the main building contractor in Roodepoort. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Roodepoort (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project

• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying

• Travel allowance for site visits
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Study support for an honours degree

• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
