Job Description

The shopfitting company in Umhlanga needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a shopfitting company on the Umhlanga side of KwaZulu-Natal.

What you'll actually do

Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line

You'll need

Code 08 licence for site visits
You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses

Helpful, not essential

SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
Estimating software experience on top of Excel
