Control and Instrumentation Engineer

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this municipal electricity department in Mamelodi needs a sharp electrical engineer. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Mamelodi, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres

• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations

• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
• Protection or HV operating authorisation

• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
• Flexible hours on design days
