Cost Estimator (Shopfitting) – Fixed-Term

The main building contractor in Bellville needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a main building contractor on the Bellville side of Western Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project

• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor

• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard

• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Travel allowance for site visits
• Study support for an honours degree

• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
