Job Description

Make sure every rand on site is counted, claimed and certified for the civils and earthworks contractor in Roodepoort. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a civils and earthworks contractor in Roodepoort. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions

Must-haves

BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work

Helpful, not essential

Estimating software experience on top of Excel
Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
