Cost Estimator (Shopfitting)

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Upington. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Upington-based, with most of your time spent at a shopfitting company. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel

• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Study support for an honours degree
• Travel allowance for site visits
