Job Description

Songs, stories, sandpits and routines: help a workplace day care centre in Tembisa give children a strong start. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is in Tembisa (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group
Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day
Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
Run morning ring with songs, weather and counting
Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic

You'll need

Matric
Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
Paediatric first aid certificate
Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
Warm, patient and energetic with small children

Extra points for

Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach
Experience with children with special needs
