Delivery Assistant (Furniture Trucks)

Trucks come in heavy and leave loaded at this furniture retailer warehouse in Centurion, and you move the stock in between. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a furniture retailer warehouse on the Centurion side of Gauteng. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading

• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• No criminal record
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• Friendly with customers at the door

• Past work as a driver's assistant
• Basic furniture assembly skills

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
