Diesel Fitter (Forklift Fleet)

The long-distance trucking fleet in Sandton needs a trade-tested diesel mechanic for workshop and field work. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The site is in Sandton; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Service trucks and trailers on the planned maintenance schedule
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
• Attend roadside breakdowns in the service truck
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts

• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs

• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop

• Overtime available most weeks

• List the truck and engine types you have worked on, including electronic systems. Fleet managers screen for those.
• Your Code 14 is a big plus. Put it right below your name, not at the bottom of the CV.
