Diesel Mechanic (Heavy Commercial Trucks)

Keep trucks on the road and earning at the earthmoving plant hire company in Ermelo. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Ermelo; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Service trucks and trailers on the planned maintenance schedule
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts
• Overhaul brake systems, including air valves, chambers and slack adjusters

• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs

• Auto electrical skills
• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles

• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Standby and call-out allowance
• Overtime available most weeks
• Provident fund and funeral cover
