Diesel Mechanic (Trackless Mobile Machinery)

When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The diamond mine processing plant near Kimberley needs you on that team. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: Kimberley, Northern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task

• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams

• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM

• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Housing support in the mining town
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox

• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
