Job Description

Planned maintenance, breakdowns and shutdowns: steady artisan work at the gold mine shaft complex near Kuruman. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The work is in Kuruman, Northern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles

Must-haves

At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits

Helpful, not essential

Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
SAP PM module experience
