Job Description

Planned maintenance, breakdowns and shutdowns: steady artisan work at the coal mine engineering workshop near Polokwane. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is in Polokwane (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

The work, day to day

Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure

Must-haves

N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster

Extra points for

Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
