Diesel Mechanic (Trackless Mobile Machinery) – Permanent

When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The coal mine engineering workshop near Richards Bay needs you on that team. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Order spares and track them through the engineering store
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure

• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits

• SAP PM module experience
• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Housing support in the mining town

• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
