Dispatch Assistant (Building Materials) – Fixed-Term

Delivery days start early in Alberton, and a cement and brick yard needs you on the bay before the trucks roll. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Alberton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks

• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• No criminal record
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Friendly with customers at the door
• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts

• Basic furniture assembly skills
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops

• Meal allowance on long-route days
• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Route-completion incentives in busy months

• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
