Job Description

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a road freight company in Johannesburg CBD. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a road freight company in Johannesburg CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
Update customers on delivery times and delays
Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

What you need

Good with Excel and email
At least 2 years in transport or logistics
Calm and decisive when things go wrong
Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
Clear on the phone with drivers and customers

Helpful, not essential

Transport management system (TMS) experience
Previous truck driving experience
Knowledge of cross-border documentation
