Dispensary Assistant (Hospital Pharmacy)

Work under a registered pharmacist at a primary health care clinic dispensary in Sandton and keep the dispensary running smoothly. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is Sandton-based, with most of your time spent at a primary health care clinic dispensary. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Prepare monthly chronic packs for collection or courier delivery
• Help customers choose over-the-counter and front-shop products
• Explain dosage, storage and side effects to patients in plain language
• Log Schedule 5 and 6 items in the register as they go out
• Record cold-chain fridge temperatures twice a day
• Process medical aid claims and fix rejections before the patient leaves

• Friendly and clear at a busy counter
• Working knowledge of a dispensing system such as Unisolv, Proscript or Healthbridge-linked software
• Matric with Maths or Maths Literacy
• Able to work Saturdays and some Sundays on a rotation

• Wound care or family planning counselling short course
• Experience with stock ordering through a wholesaler portal
• Experience in a courier or chronic medication pharmacy

• Staff discount on pharmacy and front-shop items
• Fixed rota published a month ahead
• Paid SAPC registration fees at some groups

• Mention your daily script volume, such as "dispensed 150+ scripts a day"; it shows you can handle pressure.
