Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week)

Steady household work in a townhouse in a security complex in Epping, with clear days and hours agreed upfront. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Epping-based, with most of your time spent at a townhouse in a security complex. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon

• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Good with children and patient
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to speak and understand basic English

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Non-smoker

• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
