Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week) – Fixed-Term

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a large estate home in Kempton Park. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Kempton Park; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking

• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Good with children and patient
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• South African ID or valid work permit

• Non-smoker
• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• Cooking experience with family meals

• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Transport money for live-out staff

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
